What is acupuncture? Acupuncture has been used by the Chinese for thousands of years as a way to prolong healthy life while maintaining balance and striving towards enlightenment. In America, acupuncture is rapidly spreading as an alternative medicine or auxillary form of treatment for ailments of the body, mind, and spirit.
Is it going to hurt? No. It will feel like a pinch at first and then feel dull or heavy, like a deep pressure. Some patients feel a shooting sensation, warmth, cooling or a multitude of other sensations.
How long does a session last? Treatment should last, at most, one hour from start to finish. Depending on the case, certain patients may require a longer amount of time for the first treatment so that the practitioner can become more familiar with the patient’s case.
How long does it take to feel better? This is a difficult question to answer because each person is very different. A good rule of thumb is that if it took a long time to develop the problem that you are having (a chronic problem), then it will probably take a little longer to resolve than a problem that had a sudden onset (an acute problem).
