Why do we love music? For the mood? Well, yes, of course. One music for depression, the other for joy. That is, emotions are the main value of music. But by the way, you can combine business with pleasure! It turns out that music, all such immaterial, can bring real benefits when doing sports.
For example, you are doing something absolutely useful, but (to be honest) quite tedious and difficult. Like running. If you run through the park-no matter where it went-a bird flew here, a nut fell on your head there – everything is entertainment. But at the stadium, and even more boring-in the gym? Are you afraid of this endless path… Well, you overcome the first meters jokingly, and then it begins… Every now and then, his gaze treacherously slips to the clock – isn’t it time to stop already? And now all the fighting enthusiasm was blown away. And fatigue crept up imperceptibly.
But if you run in the player, nothing like this happens! Tynts-tynts-tynts, which comes from the headphones, distracts from the feeling of fatigue. And the legs are so eager to get in time. You don’t move them with difficulty, but they carry themselves. Springy and easy.
Scientists from the Ohio State University have published the results of research on this topic. They observed two groups of patients during their sports walking sessions for 8 weeks. The first group listened to music along the way, the second did not. As a result, the sports achievements of music lovers exceeded the success of the second group by 21%. The walkers covered more than 30 kilometers to the music during this time, the “silent ones” did not even reach 25 km.
By the way, marathon runners and triathlon athletes are very familiar with the dangers of boredom. They have long struggled with it, thinking about something abstract during training.
And how nice it is to get out of bed to a joyful, cheerful melody! This is not for nothing. Music directly affects the “centers of awakening” in the human brain. That is, if you need to shake yourself up, set the body a cheerful rhythm – we listen to fast, lively melodies. One-sat down, two-stood up, three-jumped up. And after classes, we turn on slow, calm music – and the body obediently relaxes.
Scientists have studied the influence of music on sports. It is proved that moving to the music, a person does not even perform the most favorite exercises with pleasure and “not a hack”. The muscles themselves seem to demand that they are strained to the fullest. And no one will argue with the fact that learning new techniques and exercises to music is much easier and more fun.
Back in the 60s of the XX century, a large-scale study was conducted. More than 600 students of both sexes were trained in various sports exercises with musical accompaniment. The control group, who studied in silence, showed much worse results in the exams. Balancing, throwing and catching ball exercises, climbing and other basic motor skills were much better for those who enjoyed live melodies during classes.
The area of the unconscious
All this is due to the fact that the human body reacts to music on an unconscious level. It “responds” to certain sounds, enters into resonance with them: the breathing slows down or the pulse quickens. It is easier for us to work when we are given a clear rhythm of movements. This is especially true for women. After all, as you know, women love with their ears. That is, everything we hear makes a very strong impression on us. We can say that a perky melody is the key to success.
It is known that the normal human pulse is 72-80 beats per minute. The musical tempos range from 70 to 170 beats per minute. Of course, the heart is not able to adjust to too high a pace (and it is not necessary), but it will accelerate its beating. And this is exactly what is needed in order for calories to be burned faster.
The results of studies of the relationship between music and the state of “autopilot”were very interesting. Those who were engaged in aerobics probably felt this effect themselves. If the music is “correct”, then you can almost fall into a trance, move automatically, without noticing the passage of time. At the same time, fatigue decreases, and the psychological state approaches the ideal. The dancer seems to float under the clouds, he is happy and satisfied with life. Physical activity is at its peak, energy is in full swing.
Of course, you should not abuse such a state – after all, after a long rise, a period of recuperation must inevitably come. Do not drive yourself, dance until you drop. There is a certain time of classes for each exercise.
Music for you
Your music is your choice. After all, this is a delicate matter. The girlfriend will put her favorite tape to improve her mood, and there is the same song that sounded on that terrible day when…! So what? What classes are there! Tear and throw. Music should be associated with pleasant moments of life.
Do not be afraid to increase the volume (if this is not hindered by annoying interference like neighbors behind the wall) – most of all, it pisses you off when the music is blocked by its own stomping. Instead of enjoying the latest album of your favorite band, you will listen irritably – what are they singing there?
And, of course, correlate the tempo of a piece of music with what you are doing.
In general, when practicing to music, you will not doubt whether you are doing exercises at the right pace. Even if you feel a little tired at the end of classes and try to cheat and give yourself a break, the music will spur you on! The main thing is not to overdo it. You can not suffocate and drive: it is unwise to experience discomfort while you are engaged in your own health.
If you don’t really know what kind of music is right for you yet, don’t despair. Now a large number of discs with special collections have appeared on sale: for aerobics, step, body lifting, and so on.
Carefully read the annotations on the package. For example, if you buy a CD with music at a tempo of 175-195 beats per minute, it is unlikely that it will be useful to you in the process of exercises. This is too much speed for any classes. But such music perfectly lifts the mood during sedentary work and encourages you to jump up and finally do something active!
