Meet ENRGi #FitFriends, Alyssa, Suzie, Abby, & Nikita!

{Written by Alyssa}

If it weren’t for my fit friends I would be sleeping thru my morning classes! I rejoined Enrgi after a two year hiatus from having a child! And now my only time to fit it in is A.M. But it’s also WAY HARDER for me to get motivated in the morning than it used to be! Thankfully, my girls keep me accountable with morning texts, morning videos/songs, and often threats!!!

How did you and your fit friends meet? We met at Bliss Spa where we all worked!

What ENRGi classes do you like to take together? Our fav classes are SWAT, Ropes Gone Wild, TRX, Shredded…

What is your favorite thing to do together outside of ENRGi? If we can find time, we like to brunch and have a few drinks together outside of the gym!

What motivates you to go hard in your workouts?

Trying to lead by example! If I can push myself and give 100%, then so can those who train with me. Plus my dedicated clients keep me in my “A Game.”  I can be very competitive so I don’t want to see anyone blow me out of the water in terms of being fit.

What’s your favorite post-workout snack?

My favorite post workout snack is coconut Greek yogurt with peanut butter and healthy granola.

What’s your favorite workout to do when you’re not at ENRGi?

My favorite workout outside of ENRGi is doing outdoor sprint intervals with my dog Logan, I’m not sure which one of us gets winded first.

How did you first get into fitness?

I got into fitness after trying out P90x when it first came out,  working out daily felt great and then I joined a YMCA to keep the fire going

How many days per week do you workout?

I always plan for 6 days a week,  but life happens sometimes, so usually 4-5 days of working out per week

What’s your favorite unhealthy indulgence?

Mama Milanos thin crust pizza! Best thin crust pizza in Chicago!

How did you first get into fitness?

When I was a junior in high school, a new gym opened in my neighborhood and I decided to join. I’d go there everyday after school to take their group fitness classes. Plus, it didn’t hurt that there were cute & older boys working out on the machines. I got nationally certified in group fitness in 1998 and have been teaching ever since. I love how the fitness world has evolved!!

100000006_mobileWhat motivates you to go hard in your workouts?

  • I definitely LOVE to go hard in my workouts, ENRGi Fitness workouts always deliver. But for me, working out allows me to be the best version of myself from the inside-out. Cheezy, I know, but working out gives me mental clarity and allows me to function most efficiently. When I was younger, I worked out to look good. While that’s still important, my main purpose for working out is feeling good. As long as I am eating “balanced healthy” everyday (80% healthy, 20% whatever I am craving) and working out 4-6 times per week, I feel really good.‪#‎WorkingOutMakesMeFeelReallyGoodAndKeepsMeSane‬

What’s your favorite post-workout snack?

  • Banana and Organic PB

What’s your favorite workout to do when you’re not at ENRGi?

  • When I’m not at ENRGi, I jog outside or on the treadmill, foam roll, stretch, take a hot yoga class and/or do foundation exercises to strengthen my back. Pretty much all the sweating I do is at ENRGi. #ENRGi4Eva :)

How did you first get into fitness?

  • When I was a junior in high school, a new gym opened in my neighborhood and I decided to join. I’d go there everyday after school to take their group fitness classes. Plus, it didn’t hurt that there were cute & older boys working out on the machines :) I got nationally certified in group fitness in 1998 and have been teaching ever since. Step aerobics and cardio kickboxing used to be my favorite formats to teach. I love how the fitness world has evolved!!

How many days per week do you workout?

  • 4-6 times per week, depending on my workload. Most days I workout 45-60 mins though some days I only have time for 30-mins. I love that ENRGi offers 30-minute classes. This allows me to mix and match, for example, S.W.A.T. and TRX, or just do a 30-minute S.W.A.T. by itself.

What’s your favorite unhealthy indulgence?

  • I am going to answer assuming “indulgence” is plural :) Thin crust pizza, my husband and I like going to Flour and Stone in Streeterville; anything chocolate and peanut butter; Sunday breakfast of champions (eggs, turkey sausage, toast, crispy potatoes); Pirate’s Booty (I eat this several times per week :/); chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream… and much much much more!

Other people, I’m not a big fan of solo workouts unless I am building a profile. But for my own personal success, I feed off of the instructors energy and the peoples competitive spirit in class.

How did you first get into fitness?
I fell in love with how workout and nutrition knowledge brighten my outlook and attitude. I started working at a gym as a membership consultant and had to take every class in order to knowledgeably ‘sell’ it. Thus the beginning of an amazing new relationship.

I do something everyday. It can be a crazy circuit or bootcamp or a relaxing yoga class. But yea, everyday I keep it moving.

299101_10100819802975083_8290406_nWhat motivates you to go hard in your workouts?
I went to music school and grew up as a musician, and I firmly believe that music can move you and motivate you better than anything! Get a good jam going and I’m going into an all-out sprint!

What’s your favorite post-workout snack?
When I go on a long run on the weekend I’ll usually cook up some eggs and spinach and whole grain toast when I’m done. It’s seriously all I will think about in the last few miles. Haha.

What’s your favorite workout to do when you’re not at ENRGi?
Distance running! I’m training for my 3rd marathon right now, which will be the Los Angeles Marathon in March 2015!

How did you first get into fitness?
I didn’t get into fitness until my mid-twenties! I never played sports growing up and I couldn’t run longer that 3-5 minutes when I first started running. I got hooked on Bikram Yoga and running and then got my personal training certification and started teaching bootcamps and group fitness. It all happened very quickly. When I discovered WERQ®, I knew that I had found the format I was born to teach. It combined my love for performing and fitness.

How many days per week do you workout?
4-6 days

What’s your favorite unhealthy indulgence?
Craft beer. No! Baked goods. Oh no, wait…Cheese! OK, all of the above

What do you love most of ENRGi?

I read something recently that nailed it; the gist was: ‘working out should be about becoming more, not about becoming less’. Basically, aspire to be strong rather than skinny. I so appreciate that ENRGi has that attitude and puts off that vibe — it’s surprisingly hard to find.

What are your favorite classes at ENRGi?

Boxing Bootcamp, Warrior Conditioning, S.W.A.T. and I have a complicated relationship with the TRX.

What motivates you to go hard in your workouts?

I’m a delightful mix of stubborn and competitive, so that helps. The trainers are obviously incredible and know how to push me. And my gym buddies! Because you don’t want your buddies to see you, say, bite it on the box jump.

How many days per week do you workout?

Usually 6. I take Sundays off because brunch.

What’s your favorite post-workout snack?

4 words: cake batter protein shake.

What’s your favorite unhealthy indulgence?

I believe ‘everything in moderation except Pizano’s pizza’.

What’s your favorite workout to do when you’re not at ENRGi?

Beach volleyball (when weather permits). And I recently conquered my fear of biking in the city!
